About the Book
Davy Crockett’s life on the frontier, accomplishments as a soldier, and career as a politician are expertly detailed through the letters of the alphabet. In entries such as A is for Alamo and B is for Betsy (the name of his famous rifle), Crockett comes to life in this biography for young readers. Complete with a timeline of important events in Crockett’s life and vibrant illustrations, this is a must-read for young students of the legendary man. “Be always sure you’re right, then go ahead” and explore the life of this American icon.

My Take on the Book
I would like to begin the review by quoting Billy Bob Thorton who wrote this for the story: WE ARE LIVING IN A TIME IN WHICH OUR KNOWLEDGE OF HISTORY IS SLOWLY BUT SURELY FADING. IT IS OUR DUTY TO TEACH OUR CHILDREN THE RICH HISTORY OF AMERICA. THIS BOOK ABOUT THE LEGENDARY HERO DAVID CROCKETT IS A FINE EXAMPLE.

As I read this story, I realized I only knew Davy Crockett as the man with the raccoon cap, a frontiersman, and an explorer. This story opened my eyes to the extent of his life involvement in the formation of our country. He was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1827. He was married twice and his first wife died very young. Davy died at the Alamo fighting against the Mexican general Santa Ana.

William R. Chemerka wrote a children's book which will also teach adults about a man who was an important part of our U.S. History. Check it out today!
