Book Review - Penguins Can't Fly!

About the Book
A tender look at friendships and how being different can have its rewards from Kate Greenaway nominee, Richard Byrne.

Gregory the gull and Hudson the penguin are the best of friends. When Gregory learns to fly, Hudson feels left out. But when Gregory gets into trouble, it's Hudson who comes to his rescue, discovering he also has a wonderful skill.

My Take on the Book
I loved this book~ both the text and the illustrations are from a talented Richard Byrne.

Two unlikely birds, a seagull and a penguin, become friends from the time they hatch. Unfortunately Gregory, the seagull , learns to fly and joins his friends. Hudson, the penguin, tries to fly too but cannot and is the subject of ridicule by the other seagulls until one day Hudson saves his friend Gregory.

This story can easily become a learning situation. Children can learn and understand with the help from their parents, that although they may be very different from their friends, they each have special talents to share and to appreciate.

What are your child's talents and gifts? Make sure he or she knows how special they are and that there is no one else exactly like them in the world.
